Ričardas Šumila

Conductor

Having taken his first steps as a conductor with the “Bohemians” and gained exceptional experience as an assistant preparing productions of classical opera and complex musicals, it was Ričardas Šumila who helped find the musical solutions for creating the electronic opera programs of VCO. Together with director G. Šeduikis, they chose the youth-oriented performance “Hänsel und Gretel” as their first original debut, for which they were awarded the “Golden Stage Cross". Today, R. Šumila is the chief conductor of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, leading one of the country’s most prominent orchestras, and his biography continues to be enriched by distinctive projects with creators of popular music.
